Board Meeting Minutes
February 24, 2004 11:30am
Members Present: Kristy Anderson, Vicci Carter, Ramona Christensen, Rich Wilson, Wendy Kinkade, Barbara Thomasee, and Deanne Widauf.
Minutes: Rich Wilson, seconded by Ramona Christensen, moved to approve the February 12, 2004 Business Meeting minutes. Motion carried. The January Board minutes were tabled until the next Board meeting.
Treasurer's Report: Ramona Christensen presented the February, 2004 Treasurer's Report showing a balance of $14, 752.88 which includes term share accounts. Ramona also reported that term share account number 4396 was renewed at a 1.89% interest rate. Ramona did verify that the interest was put in the chapter's term share savings account.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Education: Barbara Thomasee advised that she was waiting for scholarship applications to be returned, other than that she had nothing to report..
Kristy Anderson asked for volunteers to review the scholarship applications. Rich Wilson and Wendy Kinkade volunteered.
Kristy Anderson reported that she had sent for the demo disc of Mark Langemo's training DVD - "Establishing and Managing Successful Records Management Programs."
Society of American Archivist's Advanced Electronic Records Management Workshop - after a brief discussion the Board decided the chapter would not be a sponsor, but the chapter would make a donation to the workshop.
Membership: Kristy Anderson reported we have one new member, Dan Siglin. Dan is the Records Manager for Laramie County and is responsible for their records center. Kristy also reported that she had sent welcome letters to Dan Siglin and Sheri Mitchell.
Newsletter: Rich Wilson reported that he had one more article to put in the newsletter and a copy of the February business meeting minutes, as soon as he received those the newsletter would be sent out.
Programs: Deanne Widauf reported that the March, 2004 general meeting program topic will be Community Action of Laramie County and the speaker will be Mary Bienz. April's program is still pending. May's program will be a tour of the City's fire training facility, and the June program will be the Awards Banquet.
Public Relations: Rich Wilson reported that the chapter's meeting information was in the paper and on Channel 19. Rich also reported that the newspaper had corrected the meeting date.
Web Site: Kristy Anderson reported that Donna Crock is working on updating the seminar information.
OLD BUSINESS:
February Seminar Update and Critique:
Kristy reported that the critiques rated the speaker as excellent. The accommodations were rated low. The vendors were very pleased with the contacts they made.
Ramona Christensen reported that the silent auction went well, and the net revenue from the auction was $251.25
Ramona Christensen handed out a Revenue and Expenditure report for the Seminar. The report showed that net revenue for as of February 23, 2004 was $2,767.49.
NEW BUSINESS:
MRM 2004 Leadership Training Conference:
Kristy Anderson advised that she and Rich Wilson will be attending the MRM Leadership Training Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 15 - 17, 2004. Kristy went on to say how much she learned and what a benefit it was to attend the conference. Kristy encouraged any that could attend to do so.
Records And Information Management Month (RIM):
Kristy Anderson reported that the Wyoming State Archives will be celebrating RIM with a week long display April 26 - 30, 2004. There will be a records workshop on April 27, a display promoting ARMA and a display reflecting Wyoming State Archives services and a sample of the records they maintain.
Display:
Vicci Carter reported that the display would be in the rotunda of the Barrett Building in the same location it has been in the past. After a brief discussion the Board decided to order one poster and twenty balloons for use in the displays. Vicci said she would order the poster and balloons for the displays
Proclamations:.
Kristy Anderson advised she would get a RIM proclamation from the mayor and Vicci Carter said she would take care of obtaining the proclamation from the governor.
2004 - 2005 Slate of Officers - Positions Open:
Kristy Anderson advised that Donna Crock, Chairman of the Board, is in charge of elections and awards. Kristy also suggested that non-board members be contacted to help with the elections and awards.
At this time ,Donna Baur has been nominated to do the Newsletter, Ramona Christensen has been nominated for the Treasurer's position and the position of Secretary is open.
Longevity Pins:
It was determined that the Chapter needed to order more longevity pins. Vicci Carter, seconded by Ramona Christensen, moved that the Chapter purchase the necessary quantity of longevity pins. Motion carried. Donna Crock is checking into who is eligible for a longevity pin.
Next Meeting: The next Board meeting will be held at Holland and Hart on March 23, at 11:30.
