Annual Business and Awards Dinner Meeting

After enjoying a horse drawn tour of the historic Cheyenne downtown area and deliciously prepared dinner at the historic Plains Hotel, President Rich Wilson welcomed everyone and reflected the many accomplishments of our past year’s activities of the WY Chapter of ARMA:
• Our informative monthly meetings began last fall with a tour of the Federal Records Center (NARA) a joint meeting with the Northern Colorado and Mile High ARMA Chapters. Other meetings included Cheryl Pederson-ARMA International President who gave an excellent presentation about Privacy, the Cheyenne Weather Service and our final meeting at the Cheyenne Veteran’s Medical Center, where we were able to tour the facilities and view a demonstration with the new VA electronic records system now in place throughout the entire VA system.
• There were 59 attendees at our Annual Spring Seminar, which was the third year we have been fortunate to see an increase in interest and attendance. • The Silent Auction held during our Spring Seminar brought in enough funds to assist the sponsorship of 2, $500.00 scholarships this year.
• Our Chapter assisted not just one, but four additional charities: Cheyenne Needs, Girl’s League, Glendo Helping Hands, and Toys for Tots.
President, Rich Wilson expressed his deep gratitude to the busy Board of Directors and each and everyone who has given of their time and efforts to make 2005-2006 the successful and fulfilling. In addition he expressed gratitude to the many businesses and to the Wyoming Department of Transportation, City of Cheyenne, Laramie County, State Archives and Public Service Commission for their extra assistance and support in our activities, to Gov. Dave Fruedenthal and Mayor Jack Spiker for their time and efforts in celebration of RIMM Week, and a special thank you to Kristy Anderson for her time and effort organizing the horse drawn tour this evening and delicious dinner.
Treasurer, Ramona Christensen then presented the year-end Treasurer’s Report and Balance Sheet. Our Chapter began 7-1-05 with a checking balance of $6,363.10. There was a total of $8,006.01 Revenue with a total of $8,690.86 disbursements resulting in the 6-7-06 checking balance of $5,774.32. Our Term Share accounts total on 7-1-05 was $10,084.86, with revenue of $263.02 through 6-7-06 with a resulting balance of $10,347.88. With our total Checking and Share Account balances through June 7, 2006 of $16,122.20. President, Rich Wilson then introduced our guest speaker, Paula Sutton, ARMA International Mountain Region Manager. Paula began with a briefing of how our RIM profession is evolving and changing not only in the work we all accomplish, but in the ways in which this is being administered through the many changes with ARMA International. Paula described much about the 10 total regions of ARMA International and explained how our Mountain Region was in fact the largest and included 12 states with 11 chapters, although we by no means host the largest population concentrations. With her information, Paula included some fun and interactive questions and prizes which assisted us to share and learn more about our region and ARMA International. Paula handed out two sets of information to everyone, which included April 2006 Decisions of the ARMA International Board of Directors and Semi-Annual Report to the ARMA International Board of Directors presented by Marilyn Bier, Interim Executive Director, and reminded everyone of the ongoing plethora of resources available to everyone through the ARMA intranet sites, from Web Seminars to classes and books. Paula urged everyone to attend the Annual ARMA International conference in San Antonio, TX with highlights of the week’s conference activities. Paula stressed the many-many things our chapter of 37 members has accomplished, and commended us all on an awesome year! In closing, Paula embraced our Chapter for our friendly and caring spirit and expressed her thanks for inviting her this evening. President, Rich Wilson then opened new business and related of the recent passing of Vicki Carroll, a WY ARMA member; a lady who was a totally positive and encouraging RIM professional, and one who will be missed. Janie Wait, CRM from Casper motioned one of our scholarships to be named the “Vicki Carroll Memorial ARMA Scholarship”. Seconded by Donna Crock. Motion passed.
President, Rich Wilson, then turned the meeting to Kristy Anderson, Chairperson of the Board, who presented the awards to recognize the work of the Board members for the past year, which included the following: Plaque of Appreciation to Pat Newbern, New Board Member, and Valerie Roybal, outgoing Two Year Board Member.
Certificates of Appreciation (with Plaque Attachments to follow) for: Treasurer-Ramona Christensen, President-Rich Wilson, Vice President -Donna Crock, Chairperson of the Board-Kristy Anderson, Newsletter-Donna Bauer, Programs-Wendy Kinkade, Education-Barb Thomasee, Secretary-Pat Newbern, Vice President and Webb Master-Donna Crock, and President-Rich Wilson.
Chairperson of the Board, then Kristy Anderson expressed her sincere gratitude to Donna Crock, Rich Wilson and Tim Tyler, who assisted her with the Annual Seminar Committee as well as to the State Archives, Laramie County Clerk’s Office, Wyoming Department of Transportation and City of Cheyenne for their continued assistance and support. Chairperson, Kristy Anderson then expressed her appreciate to Tony Adams and Vicki Seals (not present) for their assistance with Kristy serving on the Awards and Election Committee.
Next Chairperson, Kristy Anderson named 5-year member pin award names: Donna Baur, Rich Wilson, and Deanne Widauf. 10-year member pin award names: Courtney Bolender, Don VonSeggern, and Lynn Orrester. With one 20 year pin for Carol Intlekofer.
Chairperson, Kristy Anderson then awarded our Wyoming ARMA Chapter Member of the Year to Donna Bauer. Kristy described Donna as a member of positive influence, a tremendous asset, an active member who assists with Annual Seminars, Elections, assists in continued education through monthly CRM questions and our newsletter each month, and radiates as a leader in our RIM profession.
President, Rich Wilson then asked for nominations from the floor for the 2006-2007 Wyoming ARMA Chapter slate of officers. There being no nominations entertained from the floor, Janie Wait motioned to accept by acclamation, the slate of officers for the board as presented: Rich Wilson-President, Donna Crock-Vice President, Ramona Christensen-Treasurer, Pat Newbern-Secretary, Timothy Tyler-Membership, Wendy Kinkade-Programs/Public Relations, Barbara Thomasee-Education, Donna Baur-Newsletter, Donna Crock-Webmaster, and Kristy Anderson-Chairperson of the Board. Motion seconded by Tim Tyler. Motion passed.
President, Rich Wilson thanked everyone and welcomed Tim Tyler as our new Wyoming ARMA Chapter Board Member. Paula Sutton, ARMA International Mountain Region Manager, then swore in the new Board Members and addressed everyone with her congratulations for going those Extra-Miles with efforts and continued professional activities. Paula gave packs of Extra gum as a fun way to signify the “extra efforts”. President, Rich Wilson thanked everyone for coming and wished everyone a good night, and there being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
