Topic: Preservation in Cheyenne (2005-2006)

Members and guests met at the Hitching Post Inn in Cheyenne where everyone enjoyed a buffet lunch and visiting with each other. Following lunch, Kristy Anderson introduced the speaker, Chuck Lanham. Chuck is a part-time City employee, President of the Wyoming State Historical Society, and also known as the Wagon Doctor.

Chuck provided a slide presentation on Preservation in Cheyenne. It included an overview on background information; current projects (Lakeview Cemetery as a City Historic Landmark); Downtown Historic District & the Fire; South Cheyenne Historic District (390+ properties); USDA Facility and Round Top Water Plant – Historic Designation Sought); and Heritage Tourism, Heritage Education and Recognition. He also provided a pamphlet prepared by the Historic Preservation Board in 2001 titled, “Cheyenne’s Historic Parks from Untamed Prairie to a City of Trees.”

Following the presentation there were reminders about the December 6, 2005, Christmas party, February 10, 2006, Seminar including the silent auction to benefit the scholarship fund.
