Chapter Member of the Year 2008
Donna Crock

We are pleased to announce the person nominated for Chapter Member of the Year is Donna Crock. Donna has shown superb leadership as our president in multiple ways this year. Donna's IT background has assisted our Chapter to not just think about trying this - but to in fact, offer not just one, but two Webinar format meetings this year. Although, our statewide membership (outside of Cheyenne) hasn't seemed to take advantage of these two Webinar meetings yet, they were nonetheless, well received and attended by folks from one end of our nation to the other. Donna is always willing to approach others and ask them to help/contribute and or, to delegate in an appropriate manner. Donna has been a great board member and one who is willing to share opinion and thoughts that help to keep our Chapter looking in all directions for forward movement and trying to include involvement of other members and continued recruitment of new members. Donna's sincere caring and dedication to our annual seminar each spring (and especially our Silent Auction which continues to bring in monies to separately support our scholarship program). Our Spring Seminar functions to both educate in RIM and financially support our year long activities and learning opportunities, as well as leadership opportunities offered through ARMA International. Somehow, Donna manages to contribute her time and efforts to WY ARMA while also maintaining her full time position as IT manager for the Public Service Commission. One of the nicest things about Donna is that she has a fun sense of humor and is willing to take a 'bull by the horns' and tackle what ever hurdles may be in front of her as a leader with her wonderfully contagious smile and positive attitude !

This past year, she assisted with the training and the implementation of new records management software (RIMS) for their agency. She has done an exemplary job serving on the Board as Chapter Secretary diligently providing the minutes from each meeting. She accepts feedback graciously and with a sense of humor.
Chapter Member of the Year 2006
Donna Baur
A committee of three was comprised to evaluate the candidates. There is no formal criteria by which to judge candidates, but emphasis is placed on a member’s participation in and contribution to the chapter’s activities. Other criteria looked at: has this person supported and promoted ARMA International objectives through participation in committee work, do they participate in chapter meetings, seminars or workshops, participation in outside activities that in some way assist the chapter or advance the records management profession, achievement within one’s own company or organization, are they a member of the Board, and sponsorship of new members.
Some of the comments made regarding Donna Baur, Chapter Member of the Year, follow: “This person is a positive influence in our chapter and helps bring new ideas for improving our chapter.” “This person is always willing to help out in any way and has been a tremendous asset to the Wyoming chapter.”
Included in the submissions were these accomplishments on why this person was nominated and selected for chapter member of the year: she has been an active member in the chapter, has served on the Board for several years, assists with the annual seminar in whatever capacity needed, always helps collect items for our silent auction and charitable contributions. This person researched, studied, examined, selected and developed an electronic records management program from the ground up, figuring out what worked and didn’t work for their organization. Donna was asked to participate in a Government Technology event with a presentation and discussion on effective government records-management programs. Donna provides valuable information to chapter members through the chapter’s newsletter, including a section on “Preparing for the CRM Examintion” which offers sample questions to members to provide them with an idea on what types of questions might be on the CRM Exam. She has helped improve our newsletter so that it is one of the best in the region and works hard to provide interesting articles, upcoming training being offered, and keeps members apprised of our chapter’s ongoing activities. Donna participates by phone every month to be an active member on the board since she resides in Jackson. She is always willing to go the extra mile (literally - 430 miles (one way)) to participate in the annual seminar and awards banquet.
Chapter Member of the Year 2005
Valerie Roybal

Every year there are several great candidates for Chapter Member of the Year. There are so many members that help this chapter throughout the year accomplish everything we do. This year’s chapter member of the year has had a lot of new and innovating ideas, she was always willing to help out on committees or with projects, contributed to ideas for programs and offered to help organize or set them up. Some of the great ideas Valerie had were the 50/50 Raffle and a trip to Central City/Black Hawk to visit the casinos to help raise money for our scholarship fund. She took charge of both of these and organized them, contacted people to find out information, costs, prices for the gambling trip, arranged the contract for the bus, purchased the raffle tickets and helped collect money at the meetings for the raffles. Valerie had several other fund raising ideas that we just couldn't fit into our time schedules for the year, but we now have these as ideas for next year. She helped organize the October program with Debbye Lathrop, Laramie County Clerk, on the Elections Process. She also helped collect silent auction items for our seminar; she worked hard on the seminar getting name badges and coupon packages ready as well as helping with registration. Valerie helped with collecting items from around the County offices for our charity drive for the soldiers in Iraq. In addition to this, she was chairman for the Membership Committee and spent time contacting people about becoming members and following up with those members that had not renewed their membership to see if they were planning to renew or not. This was an ongoing process that took time out of her busy schedule. Valerie’s sense of humor and commitment to our Chapter has been invaluable and very much appreciated.

Chapter Member of the Year 2004
Wendy Kinkade
This year's chapter member of the year is always willing to assist with various committees as needed. She has been a member of the board for 4 years (since Aug. 2000), always volunteering to help with whatever needs to be done. She has served on the board in many capacities: Public Relations Chair, Program Chair, and currently as Membership Chair. She has also assisted with the Membership Committee helping to recruit new members through monthly mailings advising prospective members of our upcoming meetings. She volunteers to help with the Seminar Committee in whatever capacity is needed such as helping to track registrations and incoming money, registering people at the seminar, putting packets together, and gathering money for the silent auction. She has been on the Scholarship Committee for 2 years helping to select our scholarship recipient. In addition to that she collected numerous donations for our Safehouse charity the past two years as well as donating food for needy families. She is conscientious about attending meetings and is usually seen at most chapter functions unless something like a sick child interferes. Without people like her volunteering their time it would be hard to keep the chapter alive.
Her employment with the City of Cheyenne began over 25 years ago and has evolved from on-the-street parking control services to office support services, including being responsible for city-wide receipts and billings and helping staff with everything from bike licenses to special improvement districts to liquor licensing. Upon the retirement of Mely Richardson, previous records manager and a former ARMA Chapter member, this year's chapter member of the year expressed an interest in the records position, which resulted in her transition into the records management arena. Her ability and willingness to learn the City's records information areas over the past few years has resulted in greatly expanding the level of service this position provides not only to co-workers but also to the public. She is the Records Manager for the city and continually assists people within the city on tracking of their records, following retention schedules, locating records in the Records Retention Center and making sure the city's active and inactive records are easy to track and locate. Her knowledge and expertise are instrumental to the City Clerk Department and are a credit to the Records Management profession.
As Carol Intekolfer expressed in a well-known commercial slogan a few years back that boasted the phrase " ... You've come a long way, Baby" ... pretty much sums up Carol's personal pride and support for her. I am happy to present this year's chapter member of the year to Wendy Kinkade.
